Linda Voortman is co-mayor for the city of Utrecht and responsible for social affairs, diversity, human rights and municipal organization. She studied English Language and Literature. From 2002 till 2008 she was a member of the city council in Groningen and from 2008 to 2010 she was a trade unionist for FNV. In this capacity, she led strikes of cleaners for better working conditions. She represented the GreenLeft party in the Dutch parliament from 2010 till 2018. As an alderman, she stands up especially for those who are most vulnerable in our society.
